I can’t believe I have the energy to post….but…we made it!!!
I think we are all so excited that it’s keeping us awake!! John is driving, so I thought I would at least upload some pictures of two very happy boys and share the exhausted joy we are feeling!!
Exactly 24hrs ago we were getting ready to leave our hotel to begin travel. We said goodbye to our guide Helen, who we think actually teared up when leaving us. We’ve realized under Helens exterior is a very soft heart.
She loved seeing our photos from two years ago, made us promise to come back, and hugged every one of us. Hudson’s story seemed to shake her. The scars on his face really bothered her, but he wouldn’t tell her what they were from. Helen told us, “Its all in the past, get him to America. He will have a good life.” Even though she doesn’t understand how hard and difficult the journey is ahead, she genuinely wished them well.
When looking back through photos of travel it feels like a lifetime ago….but it was just one VERY long day. John and Ryan didn’t sleep at all, but the rest of us caught a little sleep here and there.
I have to share…
I’ve been telling Hudson I love you in Chinese over and over. He wouldn’t say it back. This morning he said it for the first time to me!! It was the perfect way to leave China. Knowing our boys are beginning to trust and love us.
For those of you who said extra prayers for Jenna… she did great until the last hour of our flight and ride home. She has been getting sick the whole way home, but we are so thankful for travel she made it almost the whole way. I really think it was that last (nasty) smell of airplane food they served before landing that sent her over the edge!!
Our first flight from Guangzhou to Beijing was 3 and a half hours.
All along the way we have very curious people asking about our family. They are amazed we would have 5 children and stop to take photos.
The boys were excited from start to finish. They kept telling our guide this morning they were going to America!
Our second flight from Beijing to the U.S. was 13 hours.
After the long flight we were welcomed to another line. Customs. But thankfully it wasn’t to bad. The kids did amazing!! I am in awe of Gods hand over every step of the way.
Here they are….officially U.S. citizens!!!! Yeah!! Oh sweet victory!
Well… just in the time it’s taken to update you all…the tired has set in more. I feel to tired to think much more!
We are only 2 min from home and just can’t wait to show the boys where they will live. I will try and update you all on how they are adjusting after we have all recovered from jet lag and have started the washer. I can’t wait to have clean clothes and eat at home!!! There are so many things we can so easily take for granted. It’s SO good to be back.
Our construction company, family and friends worked so very, very hard on our home to finish it for us so that we could focus on settling in. I know I’m going to cry a river if tears for all the love that went into our home!!
There honestly aren’t words right now to say how overwhelmed we are by God’s loving-kindness!!
Thank you….this is the sweetest welcome home I think we’ve ever had!! What a celebration of our great and loving God and of all those who have been His hands and feet to us.
“How great is thy loving-kindness Oh Lord!”
