Day 2 in Beijing was an amazing, packed filled day for us! We were way to tired to even think about posting last night when we got back to the hotel. Yesterday we left the hotel at 9:00am and didn’t return until 8:00pm! It was so great and the families we have been with are so wonderful! We have all laughed so much!
Driving through Beijing we saw MANY of these bicycle carts. Look close and you see a child riding in the back.
Our guide told us you can’t just go buy a car in Beijing. Your name has to be put in a lottery and be drawn. This explains all the bikes and scooters you see everywhere!
Tiananmen Square. (which is like visiting your Washington D.C.) People come from all over China to visit, hence all the stares we receive when people who have never seen Americans notice us. We’ve felt a little like celebrities traveling with John and Jenna. Many just stare with such curiosity & even try to take selfies with them in the background! lol
The Chinese people still do not talk about what happened here. They do not dare talk about it, and are not taught about it in school.
If you are going to take pictures of guards, don’t walk up and point the camera at their face. Ask John. lol He got reprimanded right away. They demand respect. I told him play it cool so we can get our daughter!
Touring the Forbidden City. (where the Emperor liked, or disliked someone, he would confine them inside the Forbidden City. )
The forbidden city was HUGE with many, many palaces. We only saw a small portion of it.
This was so incredible to be standing on the Great Wall of China!! It was breathtaking! The steps were crazy steep in some places. John went much farther up than the kids and I. He got some great pictures and video. There are some switch backs with no handrails he said. He went up to tower #9.
All of our meals have been authentic Chinese food! Most of it is really good, and our guide Summer orders for us. At the restaurant last night, none of the waitresses spoke any English.
This is our group of families we are traveling with. John, kids and I, AJ & Susannah, Tracy, and the Mier family! All except the Mier family have children at the same orphanage. (and all of our children are really close in age)
We have grown really close to these amazing people!
Thankfully yesterday was Jenna’s best day yet!!! She is feeling so much better. God has truly heard our prayers. She was able to enjoy the Great Wall and most importantly is ready to meet her sister today!!
Yes, today is GOTCHA day!! We will be posting again soon with pictures of our little Elyana in our arms! We are overwhelmed by the goodness of God! Each day since we’ve seen Elyana’s face for the first time on July 19th, we’ve tried to keep up reading a Psalm for the day. It’s amazing but today was day 150 since seeing her face, and it was the very last Psalm. God’s timing is no accident. He is worthy of all the praise we can offer Him. Today is definitely a praise day, so this was perfect.
150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
Elyana, We will finally hold you in our arms today. Our God is so mighty and full of love an compassion. We thank Him for brining us to this very special day.
